Before you dial
Four things that shorten the call
With these to hand most faults are half-narrowed before anyone sets off, which is what decides whether the right part travels on the first visit.
- Model and serial from the plate — behind the oven door on a range, under the front lip on a cooktop
- Whether the appliance is all-gas, dual-fuel, induction or electric
- What it is doing: the sounds, the smells, any fault code, and how long for
- For a hood, whether the duct goes up through the roof or out through a wall
What you are agreeing to
-
Cooking appliances only
Ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and ventilation. Nothing else rides on the van.
-
Gas work by the numbers
Manifold pressure is measured on every gas call, not estimated from the flame.
-
One quoted figure
Parts and labour together, before anything is opened up.
-
Independent
An independent business repairing Wolf equipment, with no manufacturer affiliation.

One induction zone kept dropping out under a full pan. He found the coil board overheating because a drawer behind the cabinet was blocking the vent. New board and a proper air gap cut in.

Three decker kitchen barely wide enough for the range we squeezed in. The simmer setting kept leaping to a full flame. He rebuilt the valve rather than pushing a whole new one on me.

The baffles were rattling loose in the frame and the whole hood hummed at any speed above the first. Whoever cleaned it last had bent the mounting clips out of shape. He straightened the frame back out, fitted new clips, and it runs silently again.
